Yoga
Perhaps you are flirting with the idea of yoga because you imagine it’s an interesting fitness plan, but perhaps you’re looking for something more. People have been practicing yoga for thousands of years, not because they want to get in shape (a likely outcome) but because they are seeking meaning in life. Yoga can be a fitness programme but it can be a path to greater self-awareness and ultimately self actualisation.
Yoga helps you reach the fullness of your human potential.
You will be more confident, stronger, healthier, and more at peace with who you are. You will make better decisions, set and achieve worthwhile goals and become the person you want to be.
8 great reasons to practise yoga
- Yoga will tone your muscles and trim excess weight and change your attitude about your body shape.
- Anyone can do yoga.
- Yoga doesn’t hurt.
- Yoga will give you boundless energy.
- Yoga adds hours to your day.
- Yoga lets you dare to be different.
- You can do as much or as little - your choice.
- Yoga is not about guilt. It can influence our day to day living, enhance our relationships and promote clarity and peace of mind.
Pilates
Pilates introduces you to postural alignment, neutral spine and to isolate specific muscle groups concentrating on allowing core strength (deep abdominal, pelvic floor and lumbar muscles) to increase. Practised in an extremely safe form of exercise and building a foundation for you to enjoy all activities including yoga and life.
Positive psychology
The scientific study of optimal human functioning that aims to discover and promote the factors that allow individuals and communities to thrive – a science of positive aspects of human life, such as happiness, well-being, flow and flourishing. Positive Psychology in a nutshell is the study of what is ‘right’ about human beings. Valerie’s yoga teaching and positive psychology coaching is professional, spontaneous, playful and intuitive.
